After this meeting which lasted for about one and a half hour, there was no official press conference from the government. Sources told Zee Business Channel that the Women’s Reservation Bill has been approved in this cabinet meeting. This bill will be presented in the House on Tuesday at 2.15 pm. This bill has been pending for the last 27 years. Union Minister of State Prahlad Patel has confirmed this by tweeting.

Women Reservation Bill: Provision for 33 percent reservation, may be passed in this session

According to sources, the government will present the Women’s Reservation Bill in the new Parliament. At the same time, it will try to pass the bill in this session. This bill was brought for the first time in the year 1996. In the Women’s Reservation Bill, there was a proposal to reserve 33 percent or one-third seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies to increase women’s participation in Parliament. Remember, this bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha on March 9, 2010 during the UPA government. It is expected that this bill will be introduced in this session and will be passed in this session.
