Delhi’s air has become poisonous again. In view of the smog blanket in the sky of Delhi-NCR and the poison of pollution mixed in the air, Graded Response Action Plan-4 (GRAP-4) has been implemented. With the increase in the level of air pollution, restrictions have come into force under the fourth phase of GRAP.
The fourth phase of GRAP is applicable in Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Noida. Classes for students of classes VI to IX and XI in NCR will run in ‘hybrid mode’. Earlier on Monday (16 December), the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) constituted by the Center in Delhi-NCR implemented the third phase of GRAP. After this, the AQI increased to 400 at 10 pm, due to which GRAP 4 had to be implemented.
Delhi’s average AQI rose to 399 at 9 pm tonight and breached the 400 mark at 10PM. Considering the steep rise in the AQI of Delhi owing to highly unfavourable meteorological conditions and absolute calm wind conditions, the CAQM Sub-Committee on GRAP called for an emergency… pic.twitter.com/av95THFtOf

- The second stage is implemented when AQI is 301-400 (very bad)
- The third stage is implemented when AQI is 401-450 (severe)
- The fourth stage is implemented when AQI is more than 450 (more than severe)
