Vehicle Registration Certificate: If you drive a vehicle, you must have a document registration certificate.
Driving a vehicle on the road is a responsibility. No one should drive a vehicle without the necessary documents, at the same time it should also be ensured that all the documents are updated. If you drive a vehicle, you must have a Vehicle Registration Certificate. Without this you cannot drive a vehicle on the road. Vehicle Registration Certificate is also called RC. Let us tell you that under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, any vehicle used on public roads must have an RC.
RC can be obtained through payment of road tax. However, the RC must be renewed after 15 years from the date of issue. Subsequently, the vehicle registration can be renewed every five years until the RTO detects the vehicle to be fit.
Therefore, if you need to upgrade your vehicle’s RC and are not aware of the process to upgrade it, then follow these steps.
For the renewal of RC, apply through the RTO to the RTO, in whose jurisdiction the vehicle is, you should not apply after 60 days of its expiry. Once you apply, you will be issued an appointment for re-registration of your vehicle. It is not mandatory for the registered owner to be present during the process.
When you show the vehicle in the appropriate RTO, the RTO officer will inspect the vehicle. If the officer feels fit to use the vehicle in future, he will sign and stamp the documents giving his approval.
Once the documents are signed, you will have to pay the tax payable on the vehicle. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, you may have to pay many other charges like renewal fees etc., the appropriate fee is specified in Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989.
Documents you need to fill include application form 25, pollution control control certificate, RC book, health certificate, registration certificate, proof for up-to-date road tax payment, insurance certificate, PAN card copy or form Are included. 60 and Form 61 (as applicable), chassis and engine pencil prints and owner’s signature identification are required.
