Your A/c can be credited with Rs. 4,000/- in Cash if you have a Ration Card

If you also have a Ration Card, then you will be given Rs 4,000 cash from the state government. The Government of Tamil Nadu has announced to give cash. In fact, MK Stalin, after taking over as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has signed an order to give Rs 4,000 as corona relief to each family of Ration-Card holder. Out of which the first installment of Rs 2,000 will be given in May.

From this announcement of the state government, 2.7 crore ration cardholders will benefit. Apart from this, CM Stalin also announced that the state government will bear the cost of corona-related treatment of all state government insurance cardholders in private hospitals.

Last year, the government was giving 2500 rupees

The Tamil Nadu government had announced to distribute Rs 2500 cash in December last year in the joy of the Pongal festival. Please tell that Chief Minister Palaniswami had announced to give Rs 2500 cash to all card holders for taking rice. Apart from this, one kg of rice, sugar and one cane were also given free of cost.

Let us tell you that in 2014, the AIADMK government started giving 100 rupees for the people of the state with 1 kg of rice and 1 kg of sugar. In 2018, this amount was increased to Rs 1000, after which Chief Minister Palaniswami had increased it to Rs 2,500. Now MK Stalin has announced to give Rs 4,000 as corona relief to each family after taking over as Chief Minister.

  1. He has sanctioned cash payment of 1st instalment of Rs.2000 to NOT all ration card holders but only to the rice-card holders. It should have been invariably said in all the communications with accuracy. Rice-card holders are NOT necessarily BPL citizens. If a rich man has opted for rice issue through PDS, he has been accorded permission to be categorized as rice-card holder without scrutinizing / cross-checking his financial status / condition. All well-to-do affluent people are posing as rice card holders / BPL entity. Further this money should have been credited into the KYC compliant bank account of the head of the family, through DBT scheme instead of disbursing it as cash amid inviting the spread and wrath of Covid-19. The TN govt does not follow this. Neither any level court observes this suo-motto nor any PIL against this practice.
The quality of free rice (20 kg per rice-card) is very poor. The mind set of people of TN is “it is free and so the quality of rice would be so” is unchangeable. They do not see the reason that the quality of rice is procured at an average of Rs.40 per kg (MSP), but the cost of rice (according to its quality) is less than Rs.10 per kg. That means, for the procurement every kg of rice, an amount of Rs.25 is going into the entire PDS department. Instead of issuing rice in kind, the Govt could pay equivalent of cost of 20 kgs (i.e., Rs.40 x 20 = Rs.800) through DBT.
